Have been questioned on that before, but with Magebane and D-shot and Holy Veil you can interrupt hex-heavy builds. Now if I am going to try that I have to be more careful.

The way ppl have acted any time they see me do it in a game I wouldnt have thought so.....but without it Ranger interrupts dont have much chance against fast casting hexes. (plus, pre-casted veil can remove 2 hexes in less than 3 seconds)
Thank you for telling me i am not the only one "crazy" enough to have thought about it

Where did I disrespect you? You have some issues lol. I just said IMHO veil is a wasted skill slot on a ranger. That hexer would have to be a retard to keep casting on you. And if you bring it to stop them from hexing you, well they will prolly focus on some serious melee or a caster anyway.

ok, I'l chill...but a shut down mez or shut down necro is a good deal, and no sometimes they arent smart enough to break away, or dont have time before they get dropped. Lots of hex players will target rangers cuz many of the well known ranger builds dont have much hex protection. Holy Veil is good for coupling interrupts with the hex slowdown, plus zero attribute requirement and the ability to work it so it can wipe 2 hexes fast with pre-casting can be a life saver. The cost of upkeep is a bummer, but ranger can handle that better than some classes, especially with high expertise- a given for many rangers (as well as being a monk second for mending touch) Sure, veil wont do anything for you if your enemy isn't using hexes on you, but i find with an interrupt based build (magebane) it can be pretty useful. (especially if you want your "magebane" to extend to all types of mages, not just some of them)

Holy Veil and Purge are both very viable skills for a Ranger to use in Arenas.
a Veil on the Ranger will make it easier for the monk to only maintain one Veil on the melee, if you run 2 melees and a ranger your monk will be thankful for being allowed at least 2 pips of regen. now considering 3 veils are up, the hexer can be stopped and pressure can be dealt.
at some point veils can go down and hexes won't do much anymore and the game is won.
mind you, this really only works for TA whatsoever, or back when Hexes were gimmick for GvG, when Rangers carried Purge.
sory Washi, you just have no clue regarding this. :P
back to Magebane:
still alright. it basically stops bad people from being good Rangers now and doesn't make a change at all to good rangers.
for PvE, i wouldn't know why you'd want Magebane though.

Works good in PvE. Unblockable to get conditions applied when you want (awesomesauce with a Paragon on your team), and monsters seem to get shut down by the skill disable way faster than players do -in Normal mode, most monsters do not have a full 8 skills, plus I think the AI gets stuck looking to use skills that get zapped. It's funny really, I didn't really like magebane at all for the first couple weeks I tried it.... and right now I almost like it for my PvE build more so than PvP.(in PvP have a hard time letting go of Burning Arrow, especially if faced with lots of melee opponents)

Well IF you base your judgement only on arenas then many things could work there. But seriously, on a utility char like ranger I prefer to use every skill to it's full potential rather than keeping a skill that only helps sometimes.

i figured it was the only place you could possibly talk of because hexes aren't really used anywhere else, with the exception for HA, but nobody runs bow rangers there.
Hexes in PvE are bad and nobody cares about them.
what would be left to possibly talk about?

Well that is why I started this argument in the first place, only place you could imagine using it is RA/TA and it is medicore at best there anyway. Pointless argument really, if someone wants to use it, he will. So I'll just shut up.

Quik clarification, Holy Veil is not a permanent fixture on my build, but something I'l grab when getting hexed too often.

Cause no one ever uses Spiteful Spirit, Spoil Victor, Pain Inverter, Deep Freeze, etc.

You're stupid. Top guilds/players bring Holy Veil/Purge Signet on their Ranger, it just depends on the build. It's more common in TA.

Yup, Holy Veil isn't a bad skill on a ranger. It aint the greatest, but if you're going into an area full of hexes, then it's a good idea to bring it. You just gotta be careful with ur energy. (as if 14 in expertise isn't enough e-management)

Reading comprehension ftw? Hexes used by mobs are bad thats why you wouldnt need veil.
And I will not even start with the big headed guy with an unreadable name who just had to throw a random insult cause he's so pro.
